CIB-Consorzio Italiano Biogas and FederBio have finalised the new Guidelines for the correct management and use of digestate from biogas in organic farming. The vademecum will be presented as a preview tomorrow at Fieragricola and is the result of intense technical work by the two Associations, arriving six years after the first version of the document.<\/p>

Digestate, the by-product obtained after the anaerobic digestion process, is a valuable organic fertiliser also for organic farming. For this reason, CIB and FederBio, together, have decided to draw up guidelines that define and clarify a useful and concrete path for all players in the supply chain, producers and organic farms for the correct use of agricultural digestate in full respect of organic production. Thanks to organic fertilisation with digestate, it is possible to provide the soil not only with nutrients, but also with stable organic substance that can replace synthetic fertilisers and improve soil fertility. Farms that use digestate are able to reduce their cultivation costs by at least 10-15% with a significant increase in the sustainability of their production.<\/p>

“The work and collaboration we have been doing with FederBio for many years demonstrates the importance of the synergy between the world of Biogasfattobene\u00ae and organic farming. Thanks to anaerobic digestion, our farms can contribute to organic fertilisation, guaranteeing soil health and quality food. A fundamental activity that restores value and fits perfectly into the circular system of the two associations,’ says CIB President Piero Gattoni.<\/p>

“The use of an effective biofertiliser such as agricultural digestate, which returns organic substance to the soil, is a valid alternative for sustainable agronomic management within a circular economy approach. The new guidelines on the correct use of digestate in organic farming, defined thanks to the consolidated and strategic collaboration with the CIB, establish procedures that comply with the requirements of agroecology, providing concrete tools that are useful for all players in the organic supply chain,” says FederBio President Maria Grazia Mammuccini.<\/p>

The document is available as an online preview on the CIB<\/a> and FederBio<\/a> website.<\/p>

The Guidelines will be presented tomorrow, Saturday 3 February, at 12.00 noon, at the Forum Agroenergie & Suinicoltura, Hall 12 of the Verona Exhibition Centre during the event organised by the CIB \u201cAgricultural Digestate, an organic fertiliser for use in Organic Farming\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
