In order to achieve the PNRR objectives, by-products of agricultural origin and the collection of the organic fraction (FORSU) must be valorised as much as possible. Simplification and administrative streamlining measures are needed to enable as many operators as possible to seize this important development opportunity. This is accompanied by the need for new urgent measures to facilitate access to the distribution network for the biomethane produced and to increase the amount of organic fraction collected. These are the guidelines for the development of the biomethane supply chain in Italy outlined by the National Biomethane Technology Platform coordinated by the CIC – Consorzio Italiano Compostatori and the CIB – Consorzio Italiano Biogas during the conference ‘Piattaforma Biometano – le prospettive e le azioni per lo sviluppo del biometano: PNRR e oltre’ (Biomethane Platform – prospects and actions for the development of biomethane: PNRR and beyond), held on 6 November at Ecomondo. Opened by Lella Miccolis, President of the CIC and Christian Curlisi, Director of the CIB, the meeting focused on initiatives for the development of the sector, from the PNRR calls to the PNIEC trajectories, with the contribution of Paolo Arrigoni, President of the GSE. Michael Niederbacher, Vice-President of EBA (European Biogas Association) and Massimo Centemero, Director of CIC and Vice-President of ECN (European Compost Network), discussed the potential of biogas and biomethane in Europe, highlighting the new challenges and opportunities for the Italian biomethane market.<\/p>

The event highlighted the crucial role of infrastructures and bureaucratic processes in the effective realisation of biomethane production plants, and was also an opportunity to take stock of the results of the biomethane project calls included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
