Biomethane Map 2022-2023

EBA – European Biogas Association, in collaboration with GIE – Gas Infrastructure Europe, has launched the new edition of the Biomethane Map that reports a clearly growing number of biomethane plants in Europe.  

According to the data presented, Europe reached a total of 1322 biomethane-producing facilities by April 2023 (in 2021 there were 1023): nearly 30% more than the ones reported in the previous edition of the map in 2021.

Today, Europe produces more than 3.5 bcm of biomethane (this represents a production increase rate of 20% in 2021). In addition, the data collected shows that over 75% of the current plants are already connected to the transport or distribution grids.
