First stage of Farming Days in Piedmont

The new cycle of appointments of the CIB-Consorzio Italiano Biogas among the most representative Biogas farms started again today from Piedmont. Hosting the first stage of Farming Days 24 was the Bagnod farm in Piverone (TO) in a region that has become a symbol of the sector’s development in Italy over the years thanks to the presence of more than 220 agricultural biogas plants.

The day opened with an in-depth look at the Agroecological Practices Decree, which aims to promote the spread of ecological practices in the biogas production phase and in agriculture, and which envisages investments of 193 million euros. After its publication in the Official Gazette, the sector is now waiting for the GSE to publish the operating rules to define how to access the tenders.

Azienda Agricola Bagnod is a historical and excellent business that has chosen to invest in the circular economy. In fact, after having built a biogas plant in 2006, it has now decided to pursue a new challenge, presenting at the first stage of Farming Days 24 the new 400 Sm3/h biomethane plant, one of the first to be built thanks to the investments of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), and soon to be commissioned. Christian Bagnod of Azienda Agricola Bagnod commented: ‘We are happy that the CIB has chosen our company to launch Farming Days. Thanks to PNRR resources, we have started the construction of our biomethane plant as a conversion of existing biogas plants. We strongly believe in this choice. Indeed, investing in biogas and biomethane can lead to a reduction in fossil fuels and, moreover, through the use of digestate we have brought about a reduction in synthetic fertilisers. A concrete commitment in defence of the territory and towards the wellbeing of the community.”.

Space was then given to the session on the themes of agriculture 4.0 and field trials. In particular: data management in agriculture and the most efficient techniques for mapping soil fertility and minimum tillage techniques. In closing, focus on the efficient use of digestate and its properties as an organic fertiliser to improve soil health.

In the afternoon, the stage focused on the in-depth conference on the innovations that have affected the sector in recent months.
